If you get a superior salvage kit for 5 and sell to merchant, that makes them worth 200g each.

The main thing people want this for is expert salvage kits. 400g to buy from merchant but only 3 credits to trade so it's a 100g savings which does add up (100 expert salvage kits=10k in savings).
